“And oooooh there’s something ’bout the way
Your sun shines on my face
It’s a love so true, I could never get enough of You
This feeling can’t be wrong
I’m about to get my worship on, take me away
It’s a beautiful day.”

Once Upon a Time… Fairy Tale Themed Time Telling Packets

I recently created two time telling units; one targeting telling time to the nearest half hour and hour, and one telling time to the nearerst 5 minute interval using AM and PM.

This “Once Upon A Time” packet has a fairy tale theme with castles, magic wands and frogs. It is aligned with the second grade common core standard for telling time to the nearest 5 minute using AM and PM.  Click on the picture for the link to the item in my TpT store!

This packet contains AM and PM Posters to help students distinguish between the two. The posters have visuals and a category cloud of terms on each. There are 2 templates to use when teaching students how to read the hands. (count by 1’s to read the hour hand, count by 5’s to read the minute hand) There are 4 pages of analog clock flashcards and 2 pages of digital time flashcards that can be used for practice, assessment, matching or memory games. There are 10 pages of worksheets where students write the time to match to analog clock shown. There are 10 pages of worksheets where students draw the hands on the clock to match the digital time given. There is analog clock template with hands that you can use to play telling time “Around the World” with your students. You can also give each student a copy of the template to construct their own clock. Brad fasteners will be needed to attach the hands. There are 10 pages of worksheets with an activity and time given, where students write the digital time including AM and PM. There are 10 pages of worksheets where a time including AM and PM is given, and students are to draw the hands on the clock to match the time and identify an activity they might be doing at that time. There are also 5 “Tick Tock Toe” boards with various times to the nearest 5 minute interval. There is a blank “Tick Tock Toe” board that you or students can draw the hands on the clock to show different times. There is also a page of ideas of how to play and use the “Tick Tock Toe” materials with your students. Finally, there is a AM and PM sorting activity where students cut and glue the words under the correct heading.

This “Once Upon A Time” telling time packet also has a fairy tale theme with castles, frogs and magic wands.  These materials can be used in the general education classroom as they are aligned to the first grade common core standard for telling time. Click on the picture for the link to the item in my TpT store!

The packet contains 4 pages of analog clock flashcards for 24 different times on the hour and half hour. There are 2 pages of digital time flashcards to match the clocks. You can use the flashcards to play memory or matching games, for practice drills or for individual assessment. There are 10 pages of telling time worksheets where students write the time to match the analog clock. There are 10 worksheets where students draw the hands on the clock to match the digital time given. You can use the worksheets for practice or assessments. There is a full page analog clock template with hour and minute hands to attach. You’ll need a brad fastener to attach the hands on the clock. You can laminate it and use the clock to practice telling time with students or to play the telling time “Around the World” game in your classroom. You can also distribute the clock templates to each student for them to assemble and use on their own. Additionally, there is a “Once Upon A Time” Bingo template. Students cut out the 24 clocks and glue them in any order on their bingo boards. Then you can reinforce time telling by playing bingo with your students. There is a call list included for the teacher to use.

I will be using these activities for small group intervention for special education and RTI. Time telling is a pretty nice life skill to have. 😉

I hope you love these units!  If you do, please rate me and follow me.  I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much.

“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

What do workers gain from their toil?  I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.  He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

(Ecclesiastes 3: 1-11)
