“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.  And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.  God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”  And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.   And God called the expanse Heaven.  And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

 And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth,  and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Number Identification and Counting Packet {Zoo Animals Theme}

This number identification and counting packet has a zoo animals theme and is aligned with several Kindergarten Common Core Math Standards.

Contents:
This packet includes flashcards for numerals 0-20 and flashcards with the corresponding number of animals on each. You can use these cards for memory and matching games, practice and review, assessment, etc. There are 10 worksheets that have ten frames and students are to count the number animals and write the number (0-10) on the line. There are 10 worksheets with blank ten frames where students are to draw the number given (0-10). You can have students use mini stamps, draw circles, etc. to complete these pages. Next, there are 10 worksheets that have ten frames and students are to count the number animals and write the number (10-20) on the line. Then there are 10 worksheets with blank ten frames where students are to draw the number given (10-20). All the worksheets are in black and white or grayscale to save ink. There are zebra print posters for numbers 0-20. For numbers 1-9, I used animals to show the touch points based on the TouchMath® counting strategy. For numbers 0 and 10-20, there is a picture representing the number. Print the posters and laminate them to display in your classroom. Also included are 10 Roll and Cover game boards for numbers 0-10 and 10 Roll and Cover game boards for numbers 0-20. To play the game, I would cover the six sides of all the dice with a white label so that this side represents 0 and the other sides represent 1-5. Have students use 2 dice for the 0-10 game boards, and 4 dice for the 0-20 game boards. Students can use bingo markers or animal crackers to cover the numbers. Finally, there are practice pages for each number 0-20. The pages have the numeral, the spelling of the word and a picture representing that number at the top of the page. Under that I included a rhyme to remind students how to write the number and then there are lines for students to practice writing the number. At the bottom of the practice pages there is an area where students are to draw their own picture representing that number.

Abundant Life {Worship Wednesday}

10959295_10152966451461760_4180302894148440783_n (2)

Recently, I have spent a great deal of time trying to answer the daunting question of why a good God allows bad things to happen to people.  I have read stories, watched videos and reflected on my own hardships that life has dealt me  This has been in an effort to explain it to other people and with the hope of them coming to know my sweet Lord.  Personally, I get it.  I don’t really question God’s goodness, because I experience it constantly.  God’s spirit is in me and I love this gift of life.  But the research has been good for me.  It has strengthened my faith, and allowed me to fall in love with God all over again.  But to be completely honest with you, I’m kinda over it.

I wanna talk about good and happy stuff.   There is so much incredible beauty and goodness on this world and we often don’t even notice it, or we turn a blind eye.  Why is it so much easier to talk about our problems?  Why would I sometimes rather complain to others than thank God for my blessings?  Ugh.

I mean God wants us to focus on the good stuff, right?

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

(Philippians 4:8)

Yes, yes yes.  This is what I need.  This is what I want.  This is what God wants.  Win, win, win.

Life Picture

God is good.  He doesn’t want us to just merely live life {even though it would still be a gift we don’t deserve} . He wants us to live it to the  full.  He wants us to have ABUNDANCE.  The stuff that makes life happy and amazing.  More than we need.  The good stuff.  Let’s talk about some of that for a  minute.

Here are 5 things that made my life a little sweeter this week.

1.) Snickers Apple Salad.  I made it for Easter.  I am no Betty Crocker, but I must say, it was pretty good.

2) This gal.

3) The gun show.

4) Spring flowers during our Easter egg hunt.

5) Easter day with my family.  Amazing music, a powerful message at church, steak and scallops on the grill.

I could go on and on.  Let’s be honest; this list is just the tip of the iceberg.

Thank you God for this life.

It is just so good.
