Number Identification and Counting Packet {Zoo Animals Theme}

This number identification and counting packet has a zoo animals theme and is aligned with several Kindergarten Common Core Math Standards.

Contents:
This packet includes flashcards for numerals 0-20 and flashcards with the corresponding number of animals on each. You can use these cards for memory and matching games, practice and review, assessment, etc. There are 10 worksheets that have ten frames and students are to count the number animals and write the number (0-10) on the line. There are 10 worksheets with blank ten frames where students are to draw the number given (0-10). You can have students use mini stamps, draw circles, etc. to complete these pages. Next, there are 10 worksheets that have ten frames and students are to count the number animals and write the number (10-20) on the line. Then there are 10 worksheets with blank ten frames where students are to draw the number given (10-20). All the worksheets are in black and white or grayscale to save ink. There are zebra print posters for numbers 0-20. For numbers 1-9, I used animals to show the touch points based on the TouchMath® counting strategy. For numbers 0 and 10-20, there is a picture representing the number. Print the posters and laminate them to display in your classroom. Also included are 10 Roll and Cover game boards for numbers 0-10 and 10 Roll and Cover game boards for numbers 0-20. To play the game, I would cover the six sides of all the dice with a white label so that this side represents 0 and the other sides represent 1-5. Have students use 2 dice for the 0-10 game boards, and 4 dice for the 0-20 game boards. Students can use bingo markers or animal crackers to cover the numbers. Finally, there are practice pages for each number 0-20. The pages have the numeral, the spelling of the word and a picture representing that number at the top of the page. Under that I included a rhyme to remind students how to write the number and then there are lines for students to practice writing the number. At the bottom of the practice pages there is an area where students are to draw their own picture representing that number.

Special Education Teacher Binder Editable {Templates, Data Collection & More}

I created this product because I am an Intervention Specialist who likes (tries) to be organized and who likes things to be pretty. This folder contains 2 editable PowerPoints and I also added the main 2 fonts I used to create the documents for your convenience. You can use the fonts to edit your binder and for any other personal and classroom use.  Click on the picture for the link to the item in my store!

Contents:
One portrait PowerPoint (46 pages) that contains 10 binder divider pages including 2 cover pages, IEPs, 504 Plans, Condensed IEPs, Behavior Plans, Student Data, Calendars, Parent Communication Log, and Lesson Plans. There are also templates to use in each of those sections of your binders. Additionally, there are 6 editable binder divider pages in this PowerPoint, and 3 pages of inspirational quotes.

One landscape PowerPoint (47 pages) that contains 12 calendar templates (for each month) and additional templates to use in each of the divider sections. There are also 6 pages of landscape editable binder divider pages.

A main component of this file are the progress monitoring forms (49 total) that are in both slideshows. These forms are for tracking progress various skills for students K-5. All the pages are editable in the slideshows by adding textboxes wherever you’d like to add text. I have already added textboxes on the editable binder divider pages, but not on the other templates. If you want the text you add to match the binder divider pages, download and install CKRounded and CKPurple, which are both included in the file. I created most of the progress monitoring forms to be printed and written on, which is how I use them when I assess students. For other templates, such as the behavior plan template, etc. you can add textboxes to edit the documents. If you’d like the fonts to match, download CKFonts (sets 1-5) available for free in my store for personal and classroom use, and match them to the document you are editing.

I hope you love this file and that it helps you keep things organized and pretty! 😉 If you need any help, email me at ckeimer@hotmail.com. If you like it, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your feedback and follows.

Have a great school year!

This is my first day at home with my beautiful new baby girl and my amazing 2 year old little boy.  They both fell asleep at exactly 1:50 and I feel like Superwoman.  Praise the Lord!

The Top 10 Reasons I Will Miss My Teacher-Friend

This post is dedicated to my friend, Mrs. Meinberg. We have taught together for the past 5 years and she took a position at another district this year. During the time we have worked together, she has gotten married and changed her name, and has been one of the first people I’ve told both times I found out I was pregnant.  Here are the top ten reasons that I will miss her.

10) I am not a morning person, but her sweet spirit made breakfast duty bearable.

9) She is both fun and funny, a great combination.

8) She is always willing to help out, sometimes even without being asked.

7) She has an amazingly positive attitude.

6) She cares about her students and advocates for them.

5) She doesn’t give up on her students.

4) She is kind and compassionate.

3) She is a great friend.

2) She is an awesome teacher, knowledgable and effective.

1) She is simply a wonderful person, and she will be missed.

I made this picture for her and gave it to her on one of the last days of school as a small token of teacher love and appreciation.  Nothing new here, they are all over Pinterest, but it was the best I could come up with. 🙂  Good luck Mrs. Mienberg!  Your new district is lucky to have you!

Love,

Courtney

S’more Addition and Subtraction Practice: Games & Worksheets for Intervention

Spring is finally here so I thought it would be fun to share a camping themed addition and subtraction packet.  Even if you are not a fan of camping, I’m pretty sure everyone loves s’mores.  This packet is aligned to several first grade common core standards for addition and subtraction. It is also aligned to some kindergarten and second grade standards. I will be using these materials for special education and for RTI math intervention, but they can also be used as supplements to curriculum in general education classrooms.  Click on the picture for the link to the item in my store!

smore 1

smore 2 smore 3

The packet contains flashcards for all single digit addition and subtraction problems (sums 0-18). You can use these flashcards for practice or for games like matching, sorting, etc. (You will need to print out extra copies of the “campfire” answer cards for games.)

There are 10 pages of story problem worksheets for numbers within 10. (5 are addition and 5 are subtraction). There are also 10 pages of story problem worksheets for numbers within 20. (5 are addition and 5 are subtraction). All the story problems are camping themed.

There is a template for adding 3 digits activity. Students roll a die 3 times and record each roll on the template, then add the numbers to find the sum.

There are 10 pages of “What’s Missing?” addition pages where students find the missing number in a given addition equation. There are also 10 pages of “What’s Missing?” subtraction pages where students find the missing number in a given subtraction equation.

There are 10 pages of “True or False?” addition pages where students decide if a given addition equation is true or false. There are also 10 pages of “True or False?” subtraction pages where students decide if a given subtraction equation is true or false.

There are 10 pages of addition speed drills (sums 0-18), and 10 pages of subtraction speed drills (differences 0-9). You can time students as they complete these worksheets to build their fluency.

There are 30 S’more Bingo templates (3×3). To win, students must get 3 answers in a row that build a s’more (1 marshmallow, 1 chocolate and 1 graham cracker.) You can adjust the game rules to meet your needs, e.g. students have to build 2 or 3 s’mores to win or winning spaces don’t have to build a s’more. You can use the flashcards (addition, subtraction or both) to call out equations for students to find the answers to on their bingo boards. There is also a blank bingo board (5×5) you can use and have students fill out.

Finally, there are 5 mixed review worksheets (addition and subtraction mixed) that you can use to assess students’ fluency on the facts within 10.

I hope you love this packet and that it really helps your students! Hopefully, they will be “happy campers!”  😉   If you like it, I really appreciate your feedback and follows. Thank you so much!

Fluency & Comprehension Reading Intervention Bundle for Grades 1-3

I created this bundle for those of us who provide reading intervention for multiple grade levels.  This bundle includes the Fluency and Comprehension Reading Intervention for All Seasons First, Second and Third Grade Packets.  Click on the picture for the link to the product in my Teachers Pay Teachers store!

bundle

bundle 4 bundle 3 bundle 2

Flesch Kincaid Readability Grade Levels range from 1.1-1.9 for the first grade packet, 2.1-2.9 for the second grade packet and 3.1-3.9 for the third grade packet.  They are all in chronological order.

Each of the 3 packets contains 35 original fluency passages I wrote and 2-3 comprehension and extension activities to accompany each one. Using one fluency passage per week, this would provide interventions for the whole school year, for 3 grade levels.  For each passage there is a teacher copy that you can print in color and reuse. There is also a black and white copy that you can print off for each student and record their scores on it. The comprehension questions and activities allow students to spend time on each selection and participate in close reading strategies to build reading skills. It draws upon Bloom’s Taxonomy to encourage higher levels of thinking skills.

*How to Use*
These fluency passages, comprehension questions and extension activities were designed to use as a reading intervention using the hot, warm and cold read strategy. For each week and fluency passage, it would look something like this:

Day 1: Cold read, discussion, comprehension questions (Lower levels of Blooms Taxonomy including Remembering and Understanding)
Day 2: Warm read, discussion, comprehension questions or activity (Middle levels of Blooms Taxonomy including Applying and Analyzing)
Day 3: Hot read, discussion, extension activity (Highest levels of Blooms Taxonomy including Evaluating and Creating).

It is always my goal to design the intervention to follow this format, but it is easier with some text and activities than others.
These materials could be used in other ways as well including as whole group fluency instruction or as homework. The genres of the fluency passages include poetry, fiction and informational text. The materials in this packet are aligned to several First, Second and Third Grade Common Core Language Arts standards.

I also try to make the fluency passages a little more fun than other ones I’ve used. I included my fluency progress monitoring graph to track students’ fluency progress with this packet. I also included labels for file folders to create “fluency files” for each student. For each packet there are also 3 pages of ideas for creation/extension activities for day 3.

Of course, I wanted to make this a great value for you. You are getting the 3 grade level packets for over 20% off the discounted price and over 40% off the original price.

***This packet includes any First, Second or Third Grade Fluency Passage that is sold individually in my store. ***

~If you like this, please rate me on TpT or follow me. Ask any questions before purchase please. You can e-mail me at ckeimer@hotmail.com or use the questions link on TpT. If you already purchased the grade level packets individually, just email me.  I am so happy to share this with you!

And this verse is amazing to me.
